Schaefer

We’ve been playing together since 2001/2002, starting off with various underground projects and some of them evolved into Schaefer. We used to be a more electronic project with samples and program tracks, then we decided it wasn’t fun. We wanted to jump around and play live so we found a bass player a year later. We still had this pile of equipment that we couldn’t get rid of but now finally we’re a rock and roll band trying to play completely without the samples and sequences.

The singer – writes. He lives in the music. Writes whatever he thinks about.

We’re trying to be full time musicians but it doesn’t pay our bills. Some of us have jobs in the industry. Working in music stores, equipment.

Schaefer – means a ‘German Shepherd’ it’s a nice name and it’s got a Norwegian letter. They are guardian dogs. It’s very authoritative.

We just want to perform as much as we can. Right now we’re doing what we want. We’re looking for a manager perhaps in Germany. We haven’t released anything – because we’ve given everything for free. In Norway we’re not the ideal band. People want straight rock and roll.

We’ve only ever played in Norway. The main thing we want to do is get to Europe and play shows. We’re never going to sell loads of records because we’re not that commercial. We’re happy on myspace for now.

We’re just about to release a video on the internet – ‘No spirit in your machine’.
