After their successful debut in 2003, Dikta are back! "Hunting for Happiness" has been released last December and is a worthy successor to "Andartak" that had been released on the band's own label Mistak Records. But things have changed since then. The guys, who have been playing together in this formation since 1999, are now signed on the Bad Taste label, which also releases Bjork and Sigur Ros. Not the worst company one could find themselves in. Although Dikta stayed true to their sound, it is obvius that they have evolved since their debut (having the album produced by Skunk Anansie's Ace might have helped with that). While in some of their songs they sound like the Icelandic version of Starlsailor or Spoon ("Losing Everyday" and "This Song Will Save the World"), they also show us their darker side on tracks like "Chloe" My Other Big Brother", almost sounding dangerously Emo at some points. Dikta might not be everyone's cup of tea but if you do like them, you will never forget about them. |
